The history of the Château Princé vineyard dates back to the 11th century, when the estate was a medieval seigneury attached to the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud. This period marked the first stages of a unique historical heritage. Over the centuries, the estate evolved into a farm devoted to polyculture. It was in 1806 that the estate took a decisive step when it planted its first vines on the land known as Princé, at the crossroads of the communes of Mûrs-Érigné and Saint-Melaine-sur-Aubance, south of Angers and the Loire.
The story of Château Princé continues in 2002, when Régis Vincenot acquires the vineyard with the ambition of revealing the full potential of its terroir. In 2014, a new chapter begins with the arrival of Luc, the winemaker, marking a turning point as the estate begins its conversion to organic farming—a journey that leads to official certification in 2017.
In 2022, a modern winery is built at the heart of the vineyard, enabling precise and meticulous winemaking. The following year, Château Princé deepens its commitment to sustainable and respectful practices by obtaining Biodynamic Agriculture certification.
The year 2024 sees the inauguration of the tasting room—a welcoming space to discover and share the estate’s wines. In 2025, Château Princé unveils a new identity, symbolizing both its roots and long-term commitments. The opening of guesthouses completes this human and viticultural adventure, inviting visitors to extend their stay and immerse themselves in the heart of the vineyard.
A wide range of grape varieties flourish at the heart of the Château Princé vineyard.
Chenin and Cabernet Franc are the mainstays of our wines in the Anjou Blanc, Anjou Rouge, Anjou Villages Brissac, Coteaux de l’Aubance and Rosé de Loire appellations.
We also grow local varieties such as Grolleau Noir, typical of the Loire Valley, and Pinot Noir: they bring finesse and elegance to our wines.
Finally, our Chardonnay, a world-renowned grape variety, is used for the production of our Crémants de Loire as well as for one of our single-varietal cuvées. Thanks to this variety, we produce Crémants of great finesse, with a delicate effervescence.
Each grape variety, each appellation, is an invitation to discover the richness of our terroir, sublimated by our sustainable practices and the tireless work of our team.
At Château Princé, passion, tradition and innovation combine at every stage of the winemaking process, bringing out the authenticity of our terroir.
In our modern cellar, the ageing takes place in stainless steel tanks, oak barrels or amphorae, complementary techniques that allow us to preserve and enhance the character of each wine, while respecting the identity of our grape varieties and the quality of the fruit.
We have chosen to use amphorae, whose inverted egg shape encourages natural stirring of the lees, while the structure of the stoneware ensures subtle, controlled micro-oxygenation. This process gives our cuvées a pure, delicate, mineral dimension, revealing bold, intense aromas.
Each cuvée embodies the balance between ancestral savoir-faire and modern techniques. The result is wines of great precision, combining freshness and aromatic complexity.
Every day, Luc, our winemaker at Château Princé, works tirelessly with his team to take care of the soil, the vines and their environment. Every step, from pruning to leaf removal, disbudding, trellising and, of course, harvesting, is carried out by hand. This method, which combines know-how with listening to nature, ensures harmonious management of the plots, respecting biodiversity and promoting the natural balance of the vines in order to produce quality grapes.
At Château Princé, discover our wines in our dedicated tasting room! Designed to welcome amateurs and connoisseurs alike, it offers an elegant and friendly setting in which to enjoy our cuvées. Whether you’re a novice or an enthusiast, our team is on hand to guide you through the tasting process and help you perceive the unique characteristics of our wines, which come from a very special terroir.
Château Princé comprises two separate buildings: a historic wine cellar, renovated into 7 independent gîtes, each with its own kitchen, bathroom and private terrace. And a modern winery which houses the fermentation area, the barrel ageing cellar and the farm facilities.
Starting at the end of 2025, Château Princé will be expanding its offering by proposing seminars tailored to the needs of businesses and groups. Modular, fully-equipped rooms for up to 50 participants will be available. Give your staff or partners an unforgettable experience, combining work and discovery in an exceptional setting.
Whether for an intimate wine tasting, a relaxing break or a business seminar, Château Princé offers you an exceptional venue where every moment becomes a memorable experience!
